 Ecklund & Swedlund Homes has been Minnesota’s premiere homebuilder for over sixty years.
In 1946, Len Swedlund returned home to Minnesota from his World War II service. He was a veteran of 28 combat missions as the captain of a B-17 bomber, “Star Dust”.
Once back in his home state, Len Swedlund joined with boyhood friend Stan Ecklund to form Ecklund & Swedlund Homes. We’ve made our name by constructing quality homes from the foundation to the ridge caps. Our customers receive the very best in quality, design, warranties, and lasting comfort. They get their new home finished at the time and for the price they originally contracted.
Ecklund & Swedlund Homes has built thousands of homes in St. Louis Park, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Mound Champlain, Rockford, Delano and more. Our Woodland Hills development in Minnetonka was particularly successful because people desired to move “away” from the city.
In 1958 Ecklund & Swedlund built a model home in the parking lot of Knollwood Mall to promote its “new” neighborhoods around the metro area. At the time this was the largest retail giveaway in Minnesota’s history.
Len Swedlund’s two sons, Jack and Mark joined the business in the 1970’s. A family business since its inception, Ecklund & Swedlund Homes continues that legacy as the second generation continues to uphold its reputation for excellence. (Len passed in 1999.)
“We have based our company on building quality, affordable homes that will stand the test of time,” said Mark Swedlund, Vice President. “We have built homes for two and three generations of families, which is very unusual in this business, and I think it speaks to the quality craftsmanship and customer service we provide.”
Customers work directly with Mark in planning and pricing their home. Then, the customers work with President Jack Swedlund during the actual construction process. This provides a unique hands-on experience in building their dream home.

Ecklund & Swedlund can build a home to suit the wishes of nearly any customer. From a 1,000 square foot split entry to a 15,000 square foot custom luxury home, Ecklund & Swedlund has done it all. Customers can choose to select their floor plan from a wide catalog of stock plans or work to design their own dream home.
Ecklund & Swedlund’s home improvement division puts the same family ethics into crafting home additions, remodeling, and teardowns. Our 60 year track record of attention to detail, timely communication and clarity with our customers is unmatched in the industry.

As a Minnesota tradition, Ecklund & Swedlund was even mentioned in the Academy Award Winning Movie “Fargo” by Minnesota natives Joel and Ethan Coen.
